Francine Marie Berard, 68, of Vassalboro, passed away May 5, 2023, peacefully at home with family by her side. She passed away due to complications from esophageal cancer. Fran was born in Waterville, Maine, Nov. 28, 1954, to Henry Louis Bilodeau and Jeannine Mary Beth Gilbert. She was a graduate of Winslow High School, class of 1973.
Fran married the love of her life, Michael Arthur Berard, on May 27, 1983, in Waterville, Maine. They were planning to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary later this month with a vow renewal ceremony.
Frannie worked in many professions over the years such as an office manager for WABK, a data processor in the lab at MGMC-Thayer, and office manager for Riverside Bowling Center.
She enjoyed so many exciting hobbies & shenanigans throughout her life: scuba diving, bowling, motorcycles, she loved reading Stephen King novels, listening to classic rock music and sharing her live concert experiences seeing Heart, Foghat, and Kenny Rogers. She enjoyed spending time with her family & friends either at BBQS on the deck, day trips with her siblings, traveling to Canada with her cousin Marc to visit their ancestral roots, playing bunco with the girls, and trips to the casino.
Fran is survived by her husband Mike; children, Bradford (Jess) Berard from Vassalboro, Michaelina (Robert) Watson from Vassalboro, Jaime Berard and her significant other Richard Gonsalves Jr from Vassalboro, and Liza Hamilton, wife of the late Jeffrey Berard who passed away in 2016; grandchildren, Morgan Berard, Keagan (Cassandra) Stetson-Berard, Abigail Buzzell, Paige Watson, Taliya Stetson, Josh Buzzell, Julie Buzzell, Alex Buzzell, Connor Watson; and 2 great-grandchildren, Carter Gordon and Leonie Lee; her siblings, Robert Bilodeau, Susan (Mike) Risinger, Diane (Royce) Rossignol, Lily (Roy) Bickford, Michelle (John) Proulx; and her dear nieces and nephews, Nicole & Zach Rossignol, Jill Risinger, Kylee Turcotte, and Chad (Zoe) Bickford.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Jeannine, an infant brother, Gilbert, and her son, Jeff.
The family of Francine Berard wishes to thank the Maine General hospice crew (most notably, Jessica & Erin) for helping to navigate all the unexpected tasks that come during this trying stage of life, your attention and presence was been greatly appreciated
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 17 Washington Ave, Waterville on May 16, 2023 @ 12:00pm. A light luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers we request outdoor plants that can be planted in the family burial plot.
