Jr.

Obituary

Felicisimo "Junior" Mandapat Ramos Jr., 59, passed away at home Tuesday, October 22, 2024, surrounded by his family. Felicisimo was born on December 19, 1964, the son of Felicisimo Ramos and Illuminada Ramos (Mandapat) in Manila, Philippines. He went to college at the University of Santo Tomas, where he studied zoology and met the love of his life, Gina Gomez-Ramos in 1982. He then went on to medical school at Far Eastern University, earning his MD in 1990 with aspirations of surgical residency. He married Gina on March 5, 1996, in Manila, Philippines. He and Gina then moved to the United States, settling in Skowhegan, Maine in late 1996. There they became parents to Justin Ramos and Felicia Ramos. While Felicisimo did have plans to become a surgeon, he found his life's vocation as a homemaker after news of his incoming first child. In this role, he cultivated a new chapter of his family's legacy in a new country. He perfected various Filipino recipes, which bathed the house in comforting scents of home. He cared for the grounds through sun, rain, and snow. Perhaps most importantly, he ensured both his wife and kids had a person to return home to and was present at many of their milestones, from staff dinners to band concerts to graduations. Being ever the overachiever, Felicisimo also extended his role and made a home in the surrounding community as well, volunteering at the local schools and church. His generous care extended to others as well, and he selflessly helped friends in time of need from providing transport to medical appointments to housesitting. With his comforting smile and witty humor, he became a friendly and familiar face across Skowhegan. Even with all these responsibilities, Felicisimo nurtured his own hobbies and interests as well. He was an avid fan of a wide range of sports, to the point that it was impossible to predict what exactly he was watching on any given day. Felicisimo enjoyed the New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics, Women's College Basketball, and F1 Racing. He also cared for numerous "plant babies," including several snake plants, Christmas cacti, and orchids, one of his favorite flowers. He was predeceased by his father Felicisimo Ramos, Sr., brothers Felixberto Ramos and Fernando Ramos, and nephew Francis Ramos. Felicisimo is survived by his mother Illuminada Ramos, wife Gina Gomez-Ramos, children Justin and Felicia Ramos, brother Fortunato Ramos, and many loving nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will take place at Somerset Valley Remembrance Center located at 19 Washburn Lane in Skowhegan, ME on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 4-7 PM. A Catholic Funeral Mass at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11AM.
