Obituary

Tom Pelletier ended his journey peacefully here on Earth and joined the Lord on July 15, 2026, after a long illness.

Tom was born and raised in Madison, Maine, the son of the late Elmer JG Pelleter and late Yvette Ferland Pelletier. He was educated in the Madison School System where he met his lifetime partner and wife, Dianne, and graduated from Madison High School as a member of the class of ’59.

Tom went on to study at the University of Maine at Orono, receiving a BS in Mechanical Engineering and eventually his Professional Engineering License in 1968.

Tom married Dianne Edell on May 4, 1963, and raised two children, Sandra and Paul.

Over his 40-year career, Tom held various positions mostly within the Paper Industry. Tom began his career at Allied Chemical in Hopewell, VA as a maintenance engineer, but being away from home and family, Tom and Dianne (Sandy) relocated back to Madison, Maine in 1966 where he began a lifelong career in the Paper Industry. Tom would work for two paper companies throughout the next 36 years, first at Keyes Fiber in Fairfield as a Design and Project Engineer until his final calling in procurement in 1972 – when he became a Sr Buyer for Keyes / Arcata Group until his final move to Madison Paper in 1984. Tom retired from Madison Paper in 2003 as the Purchasing Manager for mill operations.

Throughout the years, Tom generously gave his time back to the community. He served as a Director for the SAD #59 School Board from 1968 to 1974. In 1974, he was nominated to the Madison Electric Works Board of Directors where he served as the Chairman until 1978. In 1982, Tom acquired his Maine Real Estate License. He graduated from the “Leadership Maine” Beta Class in 1995.

Tom enjoyed watching his children participate in sports activities and he especially loved watching his grandchildren; whether it was football or field hockey, baseball or softball and especially slopeside watching the grandkids race – he was always there to watch and offer his support.

Tom spent a great deal of time with his son both fishing and golfing. In 1984, Tom aced the 11th Hole at Sebasco Shores and Paul was there to witness it; it was the only time that Tom beat his son golfing because he was able to get into his son’s head constantly reminding him of his hole in one. Tom and his son were close, Tom was Paul’s best man at Paul’s wedding in 1994.

Tom was predeceased by both parents, Elmer and Yvette and both In-Laws, Sherwood and Pauline Edell.

Tom is survived by his wife Dianne E Pelletier of 63 years, daughter Sandra Cooper (Fred) of St Albans and son Paul (Beth) of Industry. Grandchildren BJ Dunlap of Skowhegan, Miles Pelletier (Brittany) of Bangor and Marielle Pelletier (Cody) of Industry.

The Pelletier family wishes to thank the RFGH staff for providing Tom comfort in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made towards the elimination of Diabetes and/or Alzheimer’s in Tom’s name.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 7th from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Somerset Valley Remembrance Center located at 19 Washburn Lane, Skowhegan.
