Waterville - Douglas Allen Simpson, age 74, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, Maine, with his daughter by his side.

He was born in Hartland, Maine, on February 13, 1952, the son of Charlie McKinley Simpson, Jr. and Marjorie Louise (Pearl) Simpson. He attended and graduated from Waterville schools. He then went on to become a roofer for D.H. Pinnette Inc. and Dow's Roofing Company for many years.

He enjoyed playing cribbage, planting flowers, painting figurines, and doing puzzles. He also loved to go riding around in his car and popping in on people unannounced. He also would give car rides for people who needed it. He would give anybody a helping hand.

He was predeceased by his father Charlie Simpson, mother Marjorie (Pearl) Simpson, his brother Steven Owen Simpson, and his lifelong partner Nancy Butler.

He is survived by his daughter Denielle O'Neal and her partner Mike Mea, his stepdaughter Tisha Butler and her partner Danny Willette, two step grandchildren, Jason Butler and Spencer Willette, his niece Tara Simpson, and nephews Scott Simpson and Travis Simpson. Also, his special cousins Lorretta Wilbur Martin, Carleen Harriman, Bonnie Simpson Norris, Debi Lasselle Collman, Brent and Sherry Wilbur, and many more. He is also survived by his aunt Patricia Pearl.

There will be a Celebration of Life on July 18, 2026, at his daughter's home: 24 Catfish Corner Rd., Winslow, ME 04901 at 2 PM. Everyone who knew him is welcome! Thank you.
