Dorothy Marie Gaudreau Thibodeau

Skowhegan — Dorothy Marie Gaudreau Thibodeau, 92, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 22, at home with her family by her side.

She was born May 10, 1934, in Canaan, Maine, to the late Romeo Gaudreau and Pamelia (Lagasse) Gaudreau. She married the love of her life, the late William Thibodeau, and they shared 62 years of marriage until his passing in 2020.

Dot left school in the eighth grade to help support her family. She worked for many years in Skowhegan-area factories, including Norwalk Shoe, Lighthouse Shoe, and New Balance Footwear. After 20 years of dedicated service, she retired.

She enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband, family, and beloved dogs, Plucky, Max, Buddy, and Tiffany. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer Henry, and treasured her sisters’ days out with Sky, Jeanette, and Irene. She also enjoyed watching her soap operas after work during the week. In her last 13 years, she found companionship and joy with her kitties, Oreo and Fluff.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, William; her son, James; her sisters, Cecilla LaPoint, Jeanette Collins, and Irene Dudley; and her niece, Brenda Savage.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Thibodeau) Henry and her husband, Bruce; her grandchildren, Christopher Henry and his wife, Brandy, and Jennifer Henry and Rusty; her great-grandchildren, Kalie McGlashing, Hunter Smith, Connor Henry, and Haidyn Smith; her great-great-grandchildren, Khyree Winslow and Nova Winslow; and several nieces and nephews.

A private burial service will be held at the family plot at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Tammy, Pam, Barbara, Chrissy, Eric, and all who helped care for Dorothy, as well as Beacon Hospice for their wonderful care and services.
