Madison – Dorothy Marie (Rickards) Rich, 89, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Androscoggin Hospice House, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on September 18, 1934, in Skowhegan, daughter to Wilbur and Edith (Keene) Rickards. She graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1953 and received her RN Education from Central Maine General Hospital in Lewison in 1956. She continued her nursing career at Redington General Hospital, Office of Dr. Amrein MD, Rickards Boarding Home, and Cedar Ridge Nursing Care Center.

Dorothy married her dear husband Leland C. Rich in Madison on October 12, 1956, where they raised their family together. She was an avid 4-H member, Local, State, and National Grange member receiving all seven degrees by the age of fourteen. She was a member of the United Baptist Church for many years, and a literary volunteer tutoring many throughout the Madison area.

She was predeceased by both her parents, her husband Leland C. Rich, and a granddaughter Mandy Marie who passed away in March of 1992.

Dorothy is survived by her four sons, Bruce Leland with his wife Renee of Madison, Alan Bruce with his wife Julie of Madison, Dwayn Alan with his wife Deana of Madison, and Neil Keenan with his wife Chessie of Solon; 9 grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.

At Dorothy’s request there will be no visiting hours or funeral. A graveside service will be on May 19, 2024, at 3:00pm, at Forest Hill Cemetery – 229 Upper Park St, Madison.
