Benton – Dorothy A. Mooney, 84, passed away at Lakewood Nursing Home in Waterville on Thursday, September 12, 2024, due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Dorothy was born in Cambridge, Mass. On August 11, 1940, the daughter of Marie Rose (Doucette) and Joseph Melanson.

Dorothy’s most enjoyable activity was traveling. She went on four ocean cruises and five bus tours around the United States. Later in life she enjoyed playing bingo at the local Elks Lodge in Waterville. Everyone who got to know Dorothy immediately loved her. She was just that kind of person.

She is predeceased by her brothers Charlie and Joseph Melanson and her sister Jeannie of Oakdale, Connecticut.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 50 years Wilfred Mooney; two daughters Shelly (O’Connor) Dutice and Karen (O’Connor) McManus; as well as her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
