Freedom – Dorothy Holmes Chase, 89, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Lakewood Healthcare Center. Born on March 1, 1937, in Mercer, Dorothy lived a life centered around family, home, and the simple joys that brought comfort to those around her.

Dorothy took great pride in caring for her family and making a warm, welcoming home. She enjoyed working in her garden and preparing meals for the people she loved, often spending many hours canning vegetables that would later be shared around the family table.

Her baking was another way she showed care for others. Dorothy was often asked to make desserts for special occasions, and her whoopie pies became a favorite treat that were always a hit.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lendell Chase; her grandson, Christopher Porter; and her sons-in-law, Allen Hutchison and David Porter.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Pamela Hutchison and Rhonda Porter; her sons, Greg (Lisa) Holmes, Jeff Holmes, and Mark (Tammy) Holmes; along with her 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Freedom Congregational Church, 45 Pleasant St., Freedom, Maine.
