Donna May Whitney
Athens, Maine – Donna was born July 6th, 1951, and lived happily until July 15th, 2023. She was born in Skowhegan, Maine to Ralph and Rose (Benjamin) Quimby and later fostered by Edith McKechnie. She graduated Skowhegan Area High School before disco was a fad.
In 1972 she married Gary Whitney of Fairfield, Maine just days ahead of the spawning of their first child, Rob. Being gluttons for punishment, they took another shot at parenting, nearly eleven years later when their second son, Nick, came along.
Donna's siblings: Danny, Dana, Arthur, Brian, Sherry, Rose, George, John, and Jeff are still alive and kicking. She joins Bonnie, Dennis, Linda, Gary, and Billy in the hereafter. There is an absurd number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins that she loved and cherished.
Over the years Donna dabbled in many professions, most famously as a Thrift Shop owner in the late 90's, early 2000s. She was a loving mother and loved bird watching and gardening. All were welcome in her home, be it for rest, feast, or entertainment. She loved playing card games.
There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, at 3:00 PM located at the Church of Jesus Christ for Latter Day Saints in Skowhegan, Maine.
The family would like to thank the many nurses, doctors, and medical professionals everywhere. A special thanks to the Candiano Family and all the amazing people that helped honor mom's passing. Much love and respect to all of you.
