Oakland - Donald A. Davis, 72, of Oakland, died Thursday, April 4, 2024. Donnie passed at home comfortably, surrounded by the love of his eldest son, David, and his niece, Melissa.
Donnie was born in Calais, Maine, on July 16, 1952, the son of Vinal A. and Gladys M. (Noiles) Davis. He was a Williams High School graduate. Donnie married his wife of 42 years, Debbie A. (Williams) Davis, on April 10, 1981. He later assumed ownership of Davis Garage, and Davis Trailer Park- both family-owned businesses located in Oakland.
Donnie loved being on the go at all times. He enjoyed snowmobiling, riding ATVs with friends and family, hiking, going to fairs, spending time at camp, and exploring the beauty of nature.
Besides his mother and father, Donnie is predeceased by his wife, Debbie.
He is survived by his two sons, David A. Davis and his wife Tammie Davis of Oakland; Billy-Lane E. Davis of Oakland; a sister Joyce Kenyon and her husband Reggie of Crawford; granddaughter Harley A. Davis of Oakland; grandson Wesley A. Davis of Oakland; and many nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law. Special thanks to his life-long friends, Alan Sturtevant of Oakland; Jeff Clapperton and wife Cindy. Despite the challenges posed by Donnie's battle with dementia, their consistent visits and connections provided invaluable comfort and companionship during a difficult time.
A special thank you, and immense gratitude to Melissa Lawler and her family. They selflessly uprooted their lives on short notice so Melissa could care for Donnie until his very last breath. There are no words that can accurately express the exceptional care and love Melissa provided to Donnie during the last months of his life. Due to their willingness to help, they were able to honor Donnie's wishes to remain home until his passing. The generosity, kindness, and empathy they displayed will be remembered and appreciated by all who were touched by their care and support.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
