Chelsea - Donald Eugene Brann, 74, passed away on December 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Donald was born in Gardiner on July 19, 1950, the son of the late Lawrence and Marion (Robishaw) Brann. He attended school in Jefferson, Somerville, and Erskine Academy. After high school, he worked several jobs and in September of 1971, joined the U.S. Army being stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in September of 1973. During his service, Don was presented with a National Defense Service Medal, Army Occupational Medal (Berlin), Sharpshooter Hand Grenade, Sharpshooter M16, and Good Conduct Medal of Honor. After departure from the military, Don took on several jobs including carpentry, working in the woods, lumber mills, and scraping iron. Don's passion for fishing and hunting with several close friends and family provided him with many memories and stories to be told. Don had a story for anyone who wanted to listen. He was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need, and through his heartfelt giving, made several friends on his journey in life. He was pre-deceased by his parents Lawrence and Marion Brann, son Mark, many aunts and uncles, and special grandmother Gertrude Brann. Don is survived by his sons, Donald Brann, Jr, (Crystal) Wayne Brann (Tammy), Joseph Brann, and Aaron Brann; daughters, Melissa Lawler and Amber Brann; brothers, Danny (Ina) Brann, Larry (Pauline) Brann, Wendall (Heidi) Brann; sisters, Judith Butler and Verna (Scott) Cleaves; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and a special cousin, Johnny Turner. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff who provided him with superior care at Togus Springs Hospice Center for several months. Don became a part of many hearts during his stay. At Don's request, a private graveside burial will be held later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Somerset Valley Remembrance Center in Skowhegan.
