BURNHAM ME- Dennis Lee Whalen, 80, passed away, September 23, 2025, at the Lakewood Skilled Nursing Facility, Waterville, Maine. He was born November 25, 1944 in Eastport ME. the son of Grayson G. And Evelyn P. (Sherrard) Whalen. He was a graduate of Waterville High School class of 1963. He went on to get his degree in Drafting and Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology and then went to work for Raytheon, Massachusetts, Ingersoll Rand, GL&V, Nashua NH, in the computerized drafting and design division where he was engineering supervisor of the computerized drafting and design department until he retired in 2010. He went on to enjoy his retirement at his lakeside cottage on Unity Pond in Maine and his home in Sebring Florida. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, boating, playing cards, playing horseshoes, and watching the NFL "Patriots". He was very mechanically inclined and loved building and working on things. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Dennis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Katherine Whalen, his daughter, Pamela Keane, his brothers, John Whalen and Mike Whalen and stepbrother Gerard Poissonnier. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his later years. Dennis is survived by his son Jeffrey Whalen, granddaughter, Stephanie Whalen, and grandsons Tyler Whalen, Grayson Keane, and Brody Keane, and brothers, Grayson Whalen and wife Joan, Glenn Whalen and wife Sandy, sister in-law Diane Whalen and stepsister Paula Papsis and many nieces and nephews and friends. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Rest Cemetery, 959 Main St., Clinton, ME. on October 11, 2025, at 3 PM. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Elks lodge, 76 Industrial St., Waterville, ME 04901 after the graveside service.
