Obituary

Oakland - Debra Jean Remmers, 64, passed away at home on May 30th, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer with her loving husband by her side. Debbie was born in Waterville on August 6th, 1960, daughter to Billy and MaryJane (Drouin) Cobb. She grew up in Winslow, graduating from Winslow High School in 1979. After completing cosmetology school Debbie worked as a hairdresser for several years in the area. Later Debbie owned and managed her own hair salon, Hair Creations, in Fairfield. Debbie later graduated from the KVCC Nursing Program in 2002 and worked as a home health nurse for Maine General and the VA System. She loved her work helping others but her work with the veterans held a special place in her heart. Debbie enjoyed spending her time gardening, flowers, primitive decorating, QVC, boating and going for rides in her Mustang. Most of all she enjoyed her time spent with her loving family. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister Michelle Vintinner and granddaughters Olivia and Carlie Pelletier. Debbie is survived by her loving husband Michael Remmers, daughter Megan Grard, son Cory Grard (wife-Marissa), grandchildren Braydyn and Ariya Grard, several step grandchildren, brother Bill Cobb (wife-Martha), nieces Jenn Biette and Katie Cobb, nephews Josh Doody, Christopher Mares and Max Cobb, step daughters Christy White, Bridgette Charrier and Brandy Remmers, step son Shane Remmers as well as many cousins. Debbie did not wish to have a funeral, instead a small gathering will be held with her close family and friends. Debbie's family would like to thank Maine General Cancer Center and Hospice Care as well as all the friends and family that have shown their love and support throughout her courageous battle.
