Skowhegan - It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Dave Gower, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Dave departed this world peacefully at home on August 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in the quaint town of Skowhegan on August 17, 1947, Dave’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and hard work.

Dave graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1967. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During his four-year tenure, he was stationed in Florida, where he served with honor and integrity until 1971.

Upon returning to civilian life, Dave embarked on a career that reflected his commitment and work ethic. For 26 years, he worked as a poultry farmer, contributing to the agricultural strength of his community before transitioning to a role at the U.S. Postal Service, where he served diligently for 12 years.

Dave’s journey through life was beautifully intertwined with his devoted wife, Sheila. They married on April 6, 1968, embarking on a partnership that would span 58 wonderful years. Together, they nurtured a loving family, raising two remarkable daughters, Melissa and Kristy, who were the pride of Dave’s life. His legacy of love and kindness is also carried on by his two cherished grandchildren, Taylor and Emily, who brought immense joy to his heart.

In his passing, Dave leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Sheila, his daughters Melissa and Kristy, son in law Shawn and his treasured grandchildren Emily and Taylor. His memory will forever be a guiding light and source of inspiration for his family and all who knew him.

Dave will be remembered not only for his unwavering commitment to his family and his work but also for his kindness, humility, and the warmth he extended to everyone he met. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
