Obituary

Hartland – Darryl Colson Carr, 76, a long-time resident of Hartland, died peacefully at home Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Darryl, more affectionately known as "Coonie" to his family and friends, was born August 29, 1947, in Waterville. Darryl, son of Earl W. and Arlene (Colson) Carr, attended Clinton High School. He was in the Army and proudly served his country for two years. He attended Community College and completed numerous programs enriching his education. He worked various jobs assisting the community and retired from Penquis Cap working in the home energy and efficiency program. Darryl was an electrician by trade and was skilled in various other fields. He was always there for his family and friends, doing whatever odd jobs that needed his expertise. Darryl was a jack of all trades, mastering them all. There wasn't a job he couldn't figure out. He was our "CoonGyver". Darryl enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed playing golf with Jason and Bruce, and cookouts with family and friends. He was predeceased by both his parents, brothers Roger and Scott Carr, sisters Brenda Bickford and Donelda "Doni" Carr, and brother-in-law Everett Vanadestine. Darryl is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sherry (Vanadestine) Carr; son, Jason Johnson with his wife Tiffany and grandchildren Samantha, Hunter, Isabella, and Tucker; his youngest son, the apple of his eye, Jayce Carr; stepdaughters, whom he loved as his own, Brandy Ludden with husband David and Jordan Carr with significant other Gary; grandson, Ryan DeNicola with wife Maysee and great-grandaughter Rylee; sister, Jody Carr Trost with her family, Bruce, Whitney, McKinsey, Emily, Aubrie, Joseph, Nicholas, Isabel, Johnathan, and Hattie; brother-in-law Milo Vanadestine with wife Kathy; sisters-in-law Wendy Ready with husband Daniel, who was like a brother, and Kathy Nye with husband Patrick. Darryl's family would like to thank Northern Light Hospice and special thanks to nurse Nichole for her kindness and care. A celebration of Coonie's life will follow in the spring.
