Athens - Darrel E Corson, 70, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday May 8, 2025, at the Maine Health Medical Center in Portland. Darrel was born in Athens on February 6, 1955, son to Elden and Iona Corson. He attended Madison High School and graduated in 1972. Darrell worked for Norrwock Shoe for some time, then he moved on and did some carpentry work. He then moved on to a career with New Balance Shoe where he retired from.
Darrel liked gardening, puzzles and reading. He enjoyed lending a helping hand any chance he could. Darrel loved spending time with his long-life companion Pamela. He loved, and cherished spending time with his only grandchild Harper Corson, she meant the world to him, and he meant the world to her. Darrel enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his son Brandon and granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Harry and Rosie Corson and Alva and Fannie Corson, parents Elden and Iona Corson, and brothers Max Corson, Gregory Corson, and Hugh Corson.
Darrel is survived by his long-life companion Pamela Hurd; siblings Brenda (Corson) Avery with her husband Liston, Betsy Tuttle, Lola Corson, and Harry Corson; his dear great-aunt Leora Corson with her husband Erald; sons Brandon Corson with his wife Jennifer (Dionne) and Ryan Corson; and his only grandchild Harper J Corson.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Rest Cemetery in Athens Maine, with a celebration of life to follow. Both will be announced at a later date.
