Obituary

Clarence "Pete" Joseph Soucy Waterville – Our Dad took his last breath Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his home with two of his daughters by his side, following a brief illness, though many years of missing our Mum. Dad lived on his own terms and died by them as well. Our Dad was born in Skowhegan, Maine on Saturday, September 30, 1939, to Lester Anthony Soucy and Mildred Ann (Landry) Soucy, the fourth born of fourteen children. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic and received his GED through adult education later in life. Dad could do many things, some would say he was a "jack of all trades, but a master of none", though I don't think there was anything daddy couldn't do. Because of this, he worked many jobs in his life, including having three businesses of his own. The jobs I remember most were L&A Tire, where he worked with Frank Pomerleau, and "The Dud". He worked for Sheridan Construction for many years, eventually ending his career with them as head superintendent. He also had his own business in Albion named Pete's Auto Body. Many years later he shared ownership of the Metro bowl in Waterville with this brother Lester and our Mum, May. I do however think that his most favorite job of all was when he and two of his brothers, Lester and Ernest, started Soucy Brothers' Construction. There are many stories of both their workmanship and their antics that will be told for many years to come! He was predeceased by both his parents, his wife and our mother May Soucy, his grandson Dale Anthony Boyce, brothers Henry and Ernest Soucy, brothers-in-law Bradford Houghton, Reginald Lessard, Robert Thompson, and Robert Powers, and sister-in-law Donna Soucy. Dad is survived by his daughters Michelle Soucy, Carol (Terry) Bryan, Deborah (Robert) Nixon, Diane (Mark) Bourque, Denise (Rodney) Alderman, Wendy Breton, and honorary daughter Misty Soucy; his only son Derek Soucy; his grandchildren Jennifer (Dickie) Kolseth, Benjamin (Kelly) Parker, Laura (John) Whitcomb, Blake Bourque, Braden Alderman, Brittany McDaniel, Wade, Mariah, and Jamie Safford, Conner Dammschroeder, Naomi Tobey, Maci, Parker, Gianna, Mae Mae, Callie Soucy, and Kayden Patenaude; granddaughter-in-law Hope Boyce; great-grandchildren Kate, Kristina, and Dominic Parker, Alexis and Madeline Boyce, Braxton McDaniel, Oscar Kolseth, and Isaac Pelletier; brothers Les (Peggy), and Ron Soucy; sisters Jean Powers, Bernadette Thompson, Annette (Roger) Simmons, Doreen (Ernie) Chamberlain, Priscilla Lessard, Sandra Houghton, Joelene Couture , Mary Caron, Deborah Billings and sister-in-law Setsuko Soucy. Given the size of our family, I am unable to list all the cousins, though there are many, some who liv close who are like brothers and sisters to us and some who live far away and who we only met a few times in our lives, we are still family, because nothing meant more to Dad than family. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at his daughter Diane Bourque's home located at 8 Dirigo Road in Belgrade, Maine. Light refreshments will be available. Please bring a favorite photo or story to share.
