Obituary

Waterville- Christopher Stirling Money, 55 years old, passed away at Eastern Maine Medical Center on August 13th, 2023, with his family and loved ones by his side. Christopher was born in Milton, Massachusetts, on June 29th, 1968. He was the son of Donald Money and Barbara Money (Hall). He attended and graduated from Milton High School in 1986. Christopher worked many jobs over the years, and always took great pride in his work ethic and the quality of work that he did. He honed his leadership skills managing a convenience store in Waterville and organizing the Winslow Fourth of July parade for a few years in the mid 2000's. Christopher then found his calling in the mental health field, where he also found his soulmate, Terrie. The culmination of this led to Christopher leading the agencies that he worked for as the Executive Director and imparting his vision and high standard for the quality of care of those enrolled in mental health services in the State of Maine on his clients, employees, and their communities as a whole. It is truly impossible to calculate the number of lives that he has touched, but he never asked for recognition, and was consistently ready to defend what was right, and condemn what was wrong. We all owe him a great debt of gratitude for the silent, thankless work that he did to better the lives of so many in our communities. When Christopher was not working, you would likely find him watching sports, tasting wine with Terrie, or spending time with his grandchildren. Throughout the years, Christopher coached many sports teams and played co-ed softball in Waterville; however, his best athletic years came in the town of Milton, where he captured many headlines in his youth. His love of Boston teams (including the Patriots) exceeded his love of most things (apart from his family and practical jokes), and his children have many fond memories of witnessing a golden age in the time of Boston sports with him. His love for his grandchildren extended further; he reminded everyone of what a good father he was by being a better grandfather. Christopher also loved the gym and spent many years weightlifting; even towards the end of a long and arduous battle with terminal colon cancer, Christopher still did what he could to exercise. He was a steward and a shepherd for his family, and a leader through good times and bad. He always had a quip or pun ready even when all seemed lost; the only way to know his comedic timing was to recognize the premature smirk he would get on his face when he thought of a good joke. Christopher loved, lived, and marched to the beat of his own drum, and he proudly showed us that drumbeat too. Christopher was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Money, and his brother, Donald Money Jr. Christopher is survived by his father, Donald Money and wife, Cynthia Money; his wife, Terrie Santamore; his son Jack Money and wife Halie Money, his son Cameron Money, his stepdaughter Jessie Santamore, his stepdaughter Aliza Wildes and husband Christopher Wildes, his stepson Matthew Santamore and wife Brittany Santamore, and his many loving grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in his heart. There will be a celebration of life held for Christopher from 1-4 PM on August 21st, 2023, at 2 Beech Street in Hallowell, Maine. The family would like to extend thanks to Christopher's best friend Tom Gipson and good friend Stacy Paradis for their help through this time. The family would also like to thank those who helped Christopher in his battle with colon cancer; particularly those who reminded him of his fighting spirit and ensured that he (and we) stayed strong.
