Obituary

Skowhegan - Charles Rufus Bolstridge, 85, went home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2024, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Center in Skowhegan, ME. Charles was born on November 13, 1938, in Fort Fairfield, ME, son of Gladys (Watson) and Charles R. Bolstridge. He was the youngest of six children. Charles graduated from Madison Area High School in 1957. He was active in 4H and the Future Farmers of America. After high school, he served in the United States Army as a Heavy Equipment Operator in Korea and Greenland. Following his service, Charles married Helene (Wentworth) Bolstridge in 1965. They raised their family in Cornville, ME, in a home he built himself. He worked as a Woodsman until retirement. During his retirement years, Charles was employed part-time doing maintenance and custodial work for the Skowhegan Library, Town Motel, and at the Belmont Motel. He was predeceased by his wife, Helene (Wentworth) Bolstridge. Charles is survived by his three children, Charles and PJ Bolstridge of Brainerd, Minnesota, Todd and Kellie (Bolstridge) Smith of Hooksett, New Hampshire, and Bryan and Penny Bolstridge of Windsor, Maine; along with ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Charles was a long-time member of the Skowhegan Church of the Nazarene. His faith in Jesus Christ and his love for his family were the most important things in his life. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, at 1:00PM, at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home – 183 Madison Ave. Skowhegan, ME. Later, Charles will be privately inurned at Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan, ME.
