Skowhegan: Cecile M. Conley, at 81, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at Cedar Ridge Nursing Center where she resided for the past two years. Cecile was born in Lille, Grand Isle Maine on December 1, 1933 to Prime and Alice Soucy. Cecile spent her childhood days in Skowhegan where she grew up with 3 brothers and 4 sisters and attended catholic school. At the age of 17 Cecile married John Lear of Danvers, MA, where they lived and had two daughters Pamela and Corinne. She worked at Crayola Crayon and Sylvania Lighting in Danvers. It was at Crayola Crayon where Cecile met her second husband Harry Conley. Among many things, Cecile and Harry loved to go out dancing, play cards with friends, take the girls camping and visit family in Skowhegan. After Harry retired, they moved to Skowhegan where Cecile lived out the rest of her life. She spent some time working at Solon Manufacturing, but most of her time was spent doing the things she loved. She and Harry loved making ceramic things together, bowling, snowmobiling, and playing cards with friends and family. Cecile loved gardening and canning, putting up pickles, relish, beets and sauce. She especially loved hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas for her daughters and their families, who always looked forward to feasting on all the great food she cooked and baked. Cecile particularly enjoyed the company of her six great-grandchildren, Allura, Brady, Lily, Ivy, Jacob and Paxton. Cecile is survived by her two daughters, Pamela and her husband Stephen Estes of Plaistow, NH and Corinne and her husband Mark Johnson of Union ME; step-daughter Ellen and husband Chet Pszenny and step daughter in-law Judy Conley; four grandchildren, Kristen and her husband Dominic Sola of Plaistow, NH, Heather and her husband Scott Fournier of Sandown NH, Jessie Cohen of Honolulu HI and Marc Cohen and his wife Sarah of Oakridge OR; her sister Agatha Corson of Skowhegan and brother Romeo Soucy of Madison. Besides her parents, Cecile was predeceased by her husband Harry Conley and step-son John Conley; sisters Juliette Holt, Irene Tuttle and Rita Ames and brothers Francis and Arthur Soucy. A memorial service will be held on Sunday September 13, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Skowhegan Federated Church, 12 Island Avenue Skowhegan, Maine. Arrangements are under the care of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
