Waterville - Carl "Ray Ray" Burwood, 66, passed away at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta on Sunday, February 18, 2024, following a brief illness. Carl was born in Waterville on March 25, 1957, son of the late Kenneth Burwood and Cecile Estabrook. He was a 1977 graduate of Waterville High. Carl was a boiler operator at Scott Paper until its closure and went on to become a tractor trailer driver for NRF Distributors, upon his retirement. He shared his amazing driving skills with many family members, who successfully received their licenses! Carl was a selfless man with the simple taste of jeans and a flannel shirt, his sense of humor will be sorely missed at family gatherings and whose passing has left an unfillable gap. He is predeceased by his father Kenneth Burwood and sister-in-law Barbara Bernard. He is survived by his mother Cecile Estabrook; wife of 46 years, Gail Burwood (Bernard); daughter Katy with husband David Higgins and their children, Callie and Cameron, along with his special grand dog, Lily; granddaughter Emily Mattson with partner Mike Patnaude; siblings Ken Jr with wife Tracy Burwood, Linda with husband Carl Creasy, Tim with wife Caryn Burwood, Cathy with husband Rick Veilleux, and Grace Burwood; sisters-in-law and brothers- in- law Diane and Roland Gelinas, Sue and Jim Giguere, Jane Allen, and John Bernard; special cousins Penny and Richard Lagasse and family; dear friends Lee and Ahnon Karter and daughters; along with many special nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan and Scotts cremation and funeral services. Celebration of life to be determined at a later date.
