Bernice Dunlap, 97, passed away peacefully, August 27,2025 at the Sanfield Rehab & Living Center, in Hartland Maine where she called home for the past eight years. Bernice was born in New London, Connecticut, August 28,1927, the daughter of Lewis Carl Southworth and Bernice May Barber-Southworth.
Bernice was a proud Christian, and spent many years in Connecticut teaching Sunday School, and hosting the Good News Club over the summer. She always spoke about how much she missed it and the fun times she had with the children. Bernice devoted her life to taking care of her home and family. She had many talents that included cooking, counted cross-stitch, sewing, ceramics, and gardening. Bernice loved to read cookbooks and she was always trying new recipes that she found in a magazine or the paper.
In addition to her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband of 77 years David C. Dunlap, and two of her children, Dawn Poplawski and David Dunlap.
Bernice is survived by her daughter Judy Tremblay and her husband Bob; son Timothy Dunlap and his wife Heidi; son-in-law John Poplawski and daughter-in-law Carrol Dunlap. Bernice is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the Sanfield Rehab & Living Center for the wonderful care and friendship that they gave to Bernice over the past 8 years.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday September 12,2025 at Fairview Cemetery on Rte. 23 in Canaan.
