Beatrice A. Kenney, 85, of Skowhegan passed away on Sunday September 25, 2011 following a brief illness with her family by her side in Skowhegan, Maine. She was born June 14, 1926 in Pembroke, Maine, the daughter of Isaac S. and Almyra L. (Lakin) Kelley. She loved crocheting, crossword puzzles, eating out, shopping, and going for rides, playing yahtzee, planting flowers and her flower gardens. Bea loved the time she spent with her family especially the holidays and Christmas and she also enjoyed her time spent with her constant companion her beloved dog “Chipper”. She was a jokester, having a very witty character and she was affectionately known as “Gram”. She is survived by her children Mike Kenney Jr. and Edith, Carolyn Bowring and Butch, Judy Turner and J.R., Rita Corson and Jeff, Pam Nixon, special nephew Stan McGray and Toni, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three siblings; Mary Cook, Mildred Vance, Inez Towers, many nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Myron “Mike” Kenney Sr. on January 16, 2004, her siblings; Nettie, Flora, Arthur, Roland, Georgie, and Paul, her granddaughter Betty Jean Kenney. Viewing hours will be held on Thursday September 29, 2011 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
