Obituary

Arthur P. Pellerin has gone to his Lord and Maker, Jesus Christ, for his last interview on April 1, 2024. He was born October 2, 1941, in Winslow at the old homestead at 73 Clinton Avenue to his parents, Arthur M and Juliette (St. Amand) Pellerin, where he enjoyed the best of childhoods. He had the best of friends and neighbors to make his growing up years the best there could be. He was educated at St. John's Parochial School from K-8 where he also served as an altar boy for 8 years. He graduated from Winslow High School class of 1959 where he participated in football, baseball, one act plays, and in his senior play. Growing up, he enjoyed Little League and Pony League baseball; being a pitcher and outfielder. He had pitched 5 no hitters in his Little League and Pony League careers and is well remembered for his outfield prowess in Elm City Softball League being given the title of "deer like centerfielder" by sportswriter, Harland Durrell. Upon graduation, he was a truck driver for R. L. Hodges, Eastern States, and Agway, receiving a 500,000-mile safe driver award. During this time, he married Sandra and began raising his family of 5 children, which has grown into 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. On his return to Agway, he was sent to Agway Store Management Training School in Syracuse, NY, and was placed in Detroit, Maine, as a Store Manager, later being transferred to Winslow Agway Store. In 1971, he was sent to the Agway Research Farm in Tully, NY, a highly respected education center in the Northeast, to be schooled in large animal nutrition and agronomy. From there he became a much-respected consultant in both fields until he retired in 2017, at the age of 75, having worked in the field of agriculture for over 50 years. All along making many friends across the state with people he referred to as "salt of the earth," where their word and a handshake would be all that was needed. He was president of Maine Farm Days. He officiated Pop Warner for 17 years every Sunday afternoon as well as high school and college football games and was president of the Central Maine Football Association. He loved a good joke, as well as telling one, and believed a good laugh is as good for the heart as a baby aspirin. He was predeceased by both his parents, and siblings Evangeline, Esther, Ann, and Frederick. Arthur is survived by two brothers, Paul (Theresa) and Robert (Rhonda). He will also be sorely missed by Sandra, his loving wife of nearly 62 years; his five children, Rachel (Erich), David (Rachel), Sarah, Daniel, and Peter; along with eleven grandchildren, Catherine Pinkham Berger (Alexis), Caleb Pinkham (Thais), Lillian Pellerin, Mason Pellerin, Anna Pellerin, Braxton Stevens(Nicole), LacyRose Dickinson, Abraham Dickinson, Dalton Pellerin(Melissa), Juliette Pellerin, Palmer Pellerin and three great grandchildren, Meyer Rae Berger, Owen Arthur Stevens and Asher Jude Berger as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family who loved Arthur dearly. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 am, at St. John's Church, Monument Street, Winslow, Maine. Celebration immediately following in St. John's Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, Arthur would love to know you spent time with your loved ones.
