Anita L. (Pootsie) LeVasseur, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2026, at Westgate Residential Care in Bangor, Maine, following complications from the flu. During her final months, she was surrounded by loving and caring individuals who ensured she was well taken care of.
Anita was born in Presque Isle, Maine. She spent much of her working life employed at local shoe shops, contributing to her community through her dedication and hard work.
Anita enjoyed sewing, knitting, and attending craft fairs. she also took pleasure in teaching Swedish Weave from her home, sharing her skills and passion with others. She loved going to jams, where she listened to music and met new people, cherishing the sense of community these gathers brought her.
Anita was predeceased by her mother, Mary Olive (Warner) Nichols; her father, Ernest Joseph LeVasseur; her brothers, Maynard LeVasseur and Dennis LeVasseur; and her sisters, Sally Winslow, Glennis Vanadestine, and Joan Connelly.
She is survived by her brother, Paul LeVasseur of Las Vegas; sisters, Rose Robinson of Hartland and Della LeVasseur of St. Albans; daughters Kim K. Tweedie of Rockland and Kathi L. Meyer of Milford; grandchildren, Kasey Drinkwater, Erika Felt, Stephanie Mank, Thomas and Charity Blanchard, Michael and Kristi Randall, Kourtney Blanchard, and Jake Ginn; great-grandchildren, Aubriana, Iris, Kenna, Thomas, Faith, Rhiannon, Riley, Michael, Ethan, and Izaiah; and one great-great-grandchild, Thomas John Blanchard III. Anita also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends.
A graveside service, time and date to be determined, will be held in spring at the Maloon Cemetery in St. Albans.
