Obituary

SKOWHEGAN -Alice M. Duty passed away peacefully in her sleep July 11, 2022. Alice was born on May 6, 1934 to Albert and Elizabeth (Strout) Davis in Ornville, Maine. She married David Duty on June 26, 1954. Alice was a loving wife, mother, Nana and Great Nana. She was fun loving and enjoyed the social scene at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Card Sharks and whatever else was going on there. She made many friends over the years among them are June Conley and Nada Grant. She enjoyed playing Rummy and Skip-Bo with family and friends whenever they visited. She enjoyed putting together puzzles and was an avid NASCAR fan. Her favorite driver was #22 Joey Lagano. Alice is survived by daughters Betty Greenleaf, Norridgewock; Mel French and husband Gary, Dexter; Holly Fitzmaurice and husband Skeet, Skowhegan; Cathy Jo Herlihy and husband Patrick, Winslow. Grandchildren Katie Kendrick, Melissa Warren, Christie Jewell, Alicia Jones, Orrin Moody III, Megan Hayden-Lovell and Joshua Herlihy. Great grandchildren – Makayla and Charlie Warren, Mackenzie and Brooke Jones, Grant Kendrick, Thomas Jewell, Lilly Moody and Piper Herlihy. Many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her parents, her husband, David, a grandson Corey Hayden, a daughter Cindy Hayden and her sisters Eleanor Rogers, Violet Jackson and Mary Garnett, brothers James Davis, Sr., Leonard Davis and Albert Davis, Jr., two nieces, Rosalita Ferro and Valerie Davis, and a special friend Clarendon (Perky) Perkins. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Smart and Edwards 183 MAdison Ave. Skowhegan. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Maine Veterans Cemetery 143 Blue Star Avenue Augusta. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cedar Ridge Activity Center. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, Skowhegan.
